Fine! I admit it! I wasn’t the first person to jump on the short boot trend. Like, at all. As a matter of fact it took me so long to climb aboard you’d think I was riding another train entirely, in the opposite direction. I was so uncool! And as you know being uncool is a fate worse than death. #seriously
I saw other girls pulling off this trend with style and grace and I just (thought I) looked like someone chopped off my feet. Nothing out there was flattering me at all. Don’t worry, there is hope for me yet! Last month I joined the real world and invested in the ever so sleek Sam Eddleman “Petty” boot. Hallelujah! I have been saved! These boots were a perfect transitional bootie for the faint of heart, the bootie baby, the scared of suede. The color is perfectly neutral so that they don’t lose my feet and they are cut low enough to show off my sexy skinny ankles.
So now that I am a believer I am determined to find some BLACK booties for Fall that will give me the same elongation and sexy curves that the Petty allows. I know that I am not the only gal out there that has struggled with keeping up with this trend so here is the formula for finding the perfect cropped bootie for Fall.
Sam Edelman “Petty” Bootie & the “Penrose” Bootie
Show some skin!
A cropped boot that shows off your ankle is the way to go. I know! I know! Images from the runway are showing you that the next thing in boots is the midi. But ladies, If I thought that a cropped boot was taking me down a notch, there won’t be a thing that elongates me about cutting my legs off at the calves! I am a real gal, not a model with 5 foot long legs. I just don’t have that much real estate to lose!
These ankle baring ladies are all on on Shopbop:

Get a lift!
There is something super chic about a totally flat shoe, but remember what I said about being a real gal? If I want to feel like my best super sexy stylish self this gal needs a bit of a lift. Thank god that the chunky 90′s heel shape is back this year because I can have my height and be comfortable too.
I love these boots that I found on the Free People website: Equestrian Ankle Boot Distressed Collins Boot & the Braken Ankle Boot
So which ankle grazing heeled bootie am I going to go with this Fall? I found these little guys at Nordstrom today and I think we’ll have a long and happy season together. Thank you Jeffrey Campbell for building the “Westin” bootie that is just perfect for me. x’s & o’s Serena
