I love how relevant these styles are in todays market! It is hard to believe that its been over 50 years since Grace Kelly graced us with her elegance and understated beauty. I love the juxtaposition of skin & modesty that was being introduced in the 40′s & 50′s.

I have a very Urban Cowgirl approach to my personal fashion sense. Not only do I accredit it to my Texas upbringing but my Argentine roots play a large roll in my sensibilities as well. Recently, I dug up this amazing photo taken of my granny dressed as a gaucho on our family ranch in Argentina! I love the spirit that it captures. Yesterday, I was excited to read a Q&A between our favorite travel magazine AFAR and the duo behind our favorite store, Opening Ceremony. Each season, Humberto Leon and Carol Lim, the founders of Opening Ceremony, curate the store and fashion line to capture the essence of the country that has inspired them that year. This year, I am please to learn that the design duo found their inspiration in Argentina. I just love how the line turned out. It is such a beautiful marriage between traditional Argentine esthetic and modern design.

Whether you’re posted up poolside or BBQing with the fam today take your fashion statement all American with loads of denim and skin! Here are some of my Memorial Day inspiration images for a classic American always a bit hippie dress code.
Have a great day y’all and remember to give thanks to the men and women who risked their lives to secure our freedom (and our much needed day off!)
And don’t forget the denim!

Once upon a time there was a young tomboy from Argentina who loved to build things from scratch. When she was a child she built a sailboat and as a young lady she built a house in Colorado.
While contruction was underway my mother and aunte lived in a glorious army tent complete with persian rugs, family oil painting and crystal wine glasses. Not only were mom and June the original Modern Gypsies but I’m certain that they coined the term GLAMping!
