Whether or not that little dude sees his shadow tomorrow or not, I’m still gearing up for for a fabulous Spring! In doing so I am revisiting the RTW line that always does the trick for me. Paying homage to one of my favorite themes: the Wild West, Derek Lam is exactly what I look for in a season change: fresh clean lines with hints of familiarity.
The funny thing about being 10,000 miles away from home was that I really felt at home… To say that my friends at Tanda Tula welcomed us with open hearts would be an understatement. The moment that we arrived on that rainy bush evening I knew that Tanda Tula was a special place, the people amazing, and the friendships that grow there are priceless. Upon arrival I met Jacquie and Dolphin, two very special ladies at Tanda Tula, both of which have such a thirst for life and share with me a love style! Both of these woman are so talented in their own rite. Jacquie is a beautiful writer and Dolphin a very gifted jewelry maker. Days of spending time with these ladies between bush drives reminded me of my own inner strength and the possibilities that lay ahead. I remain truly inspired by the courage and dedication that these ladies posses and know that this is just the beginning of something truly life changing for the three of us. My time at Tanda Tula reminds me that the world is not that large, beauty is around every bush and when opportunity presents itself to you, you must pounce!
Let me preface this by shouting from Table Top Mountain that i am in LOVE with South Africa and its beautiful people! We’re just a third of the way through our adventure and already my head is about to explode with information and an overall feeling of joy and love for everyone that I’ve encountered. That being said let me introduce you to Piece. Or more specifically; Beauty and Eugénie. Two of the most incredible woman that I met while in Joburg. Eugénie is an amazing mentor and curator of Piece, a retail collection of fair trade African adornment. Beauty is a master beader who’s craft was past down to her from her Grandmother as many trades in South African culture are. We had the rare opportunity join these amazing women in the store and learn the craft of beading first hand from Beauty. I am so honored to call Eugénie and Beauty friends and hope that I can make them proud by celebrating the culture and love of Joburg that they shared with me.

I not only love the stone but can’t get enough of the color itself. Nothing says it’s summertime like turquoise and a tan! I love the combo of turquoise and gold like the fabulously rugged Dara Ettinger ring and the playfully classic Kate Spade bangle below. The color is so fun on your eyes and nails as well!
